My daughter in law did, but I haven't been out back to see them. She told me how she planted them and I just smiled. I thing she put them way too close together. I'm not going to say a thing about it. She has her hands full with this project and the kids. I'm trying real hard to limit my comments to those of encouragement. Everything else will come with time and when there isn't so much stress with all that is going on.
Good that you were able to put up some strawberries. They are so good on so many things. (like waffles, or ice cream)

I hate to tell you, but that only gets worse. You won't intend for it to happen or be careless. It just happens. At this age, most all of us understand and are for forgiving.

Update on "things around the house". The original deck was old, wobbly, not level, too big, and generally ugly. Used some of the original structure, but mostly new. Went from 10' x 12" to 5' x 12'. Just enough to be easy to move around on. (The rear deck will be larger, for sitting out, grilling, etc. That's the next project)

I could never keep paint or stain on those type of steps, so I covered them in outdoor carpet. It has been on about 4 years and is really holding. Then I found some Olympic exterior paint that finally does not lift off treated wood.
The deck looks good. Sturdy. Should be easy to keep the snow off.

Since the actual deck suface is somewhat worn, I'm gonna try some of that thick surface restoring paint. The steps are going to get an extra coat....we'll see.

Pete, we re-stained our decks last spring and used the Olympic Maximum. The wood is old and has seen better days, but so far it is holding up pretty well, the only areas showing wear are the really high traffic spots like the steps to the front door, but I expect as much because that wood is about ready to be replaced anyway. We thought about using the Olympic Rescue-it stain (super thick, and feels like it has sand grit in it when it dries) but ultimately decided to go with the Maximum in the end. So far, not regretting it - it's doing better than the BEHR stain we used twice prior. I don't know about you, but I like staining, it's the perfect boring chill-out activity, and with my job I really need that from time to time. And when you are done, there is a definite lasting feeling of satisfaction. Whatever you do here, I'm sure it will come out great. Have fun!

I'm with TT on this one, my parents used the Rescue stuff on their deck and had some issues with peeling in places. I use the Maximum on the kids playset, and it's holding up really well. Third summer on the original stain job and its still looking good.

Olympic products are quality. I tried about everything trying to get a paint stain that didn't peel off. This one stays on. When you have to do it over it is because it has weathered off, not failed and fell off.

Went to Lowes to get more fittings, back splash supplies etc. There was clerk there who took my list and went and picked the list for me. must have been a couple dozen items. Then he had it ready at the check out. another clerk took it out and put it in my car for me. Then I went to HD for another item. Senior clerk there said the item was no longer available in store and I would have to get it on line. I went back to my car and looked it up on the phone. Said this store has two in stock in isle 5. I went back in, and there it was. On line, it was listed as store pick up only. Too odd. The clerk at HD was one of their regular staff that runs that dept. Spent about $300 in just odds and ends.
