The property owners at one of my firewood haunts had a standing dead chestnut oak dropped and bucked. I share the wood I cut on their property with them, though they don't burn much, maybe 80/20 in my favor.

There is about an inch of cheese under the bark on most rounds, and there are rounds from a prominent limb that are totally gone. However, it was a pretty big tree, so it should yield a decent amount of primo btus.

Smartphone pics below, I tried to keep the Fiskars in the shots for reference, though I may have missed it on the 3rd one.

    Super great!

Save the cheese for New Year's Eve. Save the wood for January.

That's great you can cut and share with the property owners.

Nice haul - the funky wood, calling it "cheese" heheh now that's funny.
Plenty of chunks in those heaps. They seem to burn longer.

Nice score! Gark's right, I love burning the chunks and uglies as they do seem to last a bit longer.
