Got in a little over an hour of splitting today, and started just throwing the pieces off to the side to be stacked later. Last 20 minutes or so I started strategically placing some of the splits to make the stack higher. It'll last 2 or 3 days until I have time to stack it. Not a bad day here for splitting, although it was kind of humid it really wasn't too hot. You can see smaller pieces destined for the campfire at the bottom right. Past the YUCK-UH plants in the background are some of my more organized stacks, top-covered with old metal roofing and plastic. These are some larger pieces from a tree I felled on Wednesday. The pieces had to be split in half so I could lift them on the truck. Good sized tree but some of the pieces toward the top were a little punky. Hoping to get this split soon, as our temps are supposed to stay in the 80s for the next week or so.
Good work RO, I was actually thinking of dragging the splitter out as supposed to see some high 60's low 70's this weekend but they show 100% chance of heavy rain now.
Around here today looks like a washout, plus I have to be out of town anyway, but tomorrow looks pretty good for getting some more splitting in. Gotta use the cooler days when you get them in the summer!
Nice Throw Hausen RO... Lots of good looking oak you have there. Those big rounds sure get heavy. I'm hoping this rain lets up sometime this weekend, I would also like to get out in this cooler weather and get something done.
