This is not mine but has been offered for sale. Owner died, wife wants to sell. From the picture appears to be an aluminum block, apparently there is a sticker that says 5.2L. Any ideas?
That looks like a 5.3L cast into the block there, which makes a lot more sense for a GM engine. Someone more in the know about the numbers might be able to get more specific but it looks like a late-model 5.3L LS series motor like you find under the hood of 95% of their half-ton pickups from '09-present. Could have come out of an SUV too and the Colorado/Canyon/H3 used the 5.3L as well. IDK if they had the all aluminum version or not however.
I'm buy no means a GM guy but that appears to be an aluminum 5.3 LS GM motor. There are some aluminum blocked 5.3s in GM trucks. Most aluminum blocked LS motors are in vettes but those are bigger than 5.3 liters. Well, it's got the distributor in the wrong place, so it's not a ford. Lol. It's older obviously, since it has a distributor and a carb.
Valve covers are screaming Buick to me....and that water manifold is kind of like what I remember, but not 100% sure.
