With just enough 3-yr white oak left in the underground woodshed to try my first cube stack, it seemed to make sense putting this back outside for another summer. It is humid where last winter's leftovers sat and no air circulation. Hope the sun and wind dry it some more. It sure takes more fiddlin' with end cribbing on a cube than a regular long stack. Now if only it will stop raining so much.
Yeah, making a single pallet square is a lot more work, but it does look nice. I have 2 pallet square stacks at my house for next winter. For me, 1 trailer load is a half cord, and a single pallet stack is a 1/2 cord, so it's super convenient for me that way. I brought 2 pallets home the other week so I can stack 2 pallets worth at one time, making a lot more non cribbing stacking possible.
Will send pics of my 30ft cribbed end stack. Its a little more challenging but you learn fast after having to re stack
Of all the jobs stacking is my least favorite. I'd cut and split all day if someone else would stack. Nice job.
Isn't that the truth. I started my first couple stacks with t posts.. That didn't go so well.. Neither did my first attempt a cribbing. Getting much better at it now. My yard has a little slope to it so I lean the stack against the slope and they've held up very well.
Nice looking white oak! Those chunky splits will make more some good over nighters. In can appreciate the rain comments, enough is enough.
