Just came back from a weekend at my brother's to find a mess. The city has been putting in new holding tanks because they are switching us all from septic tanks to a sewer system. Well, they waited until the one work day that we were out of town to tear up our yard and sidewalk. They moved firewood which is the first thing that ticked me off. They destroyed our rhubarb patch and probably killed my mulberry tree that I planted my first summer here. They had no reason to be digging there, it looks like thats where they piled the dirt at one point. And then we found a note on our door- they hit the old lady's car and so now we have an insurance claim to file. I don't know why these jokers were trying to work around her car-- if they had come any other day we would have happily moved it, but now I am feeling sue happy.
Can't like that post. You have my full sympathy instead. A little heads up as to when they were going to work on your property would have been nice so you could have supervised and been able to work around things.
Is this "out-of-the-blue"? or did they give you prior notice as to what they had planned? Did they ever ask for your input on this??!? There's gotta be more to this, some back story. Please tell me there's more to this, please!
They are doing the whole town, not asking any input from property owners and apparently no notice for when they will be on the property.
That's not right. There should have been public forums on the proposed modifications, the impact and time frame, etc. - oh yeah, increase in local taxes for improvements. Take plenty of videos, showing the chaos and damage. You and any neighboring areas. See if this is a private company, vs. Govt. owned. Is this related to - water treatment, or waste treatment? Nail them down on that, it makes a difference. There is more, let us know whats going on. This stuff makes me see red.
We live in a small town. Every time there is a law suit, the taxes go up to cover it. That is for the lawyer's fees and the settlement. They very rarely let it go to court. There needs to be some community input on this. Going in your yard and ripping it up is not excusable. I would be furious had that happened to me. If your damage was on you property, not in the right of way for the road, you certainly seem to have a case.
Correct. That's really similar to the time frame we had. In fact, this project was supposed to be done two years ago. It's a waste management project, long story short farm chemicals are getting into the streams so the idiots at the capital say we can't have septic tanks anymore. Don't ask me how the two are related.
So, I would ask who benefits from this project? What I mean is who is getting money from this and what connections do they have? Doesn't sound like it is going to help you in any way. Need to vote those nuts out of office.
Wait.....they hit your car and YOU have to file the claim? Bullchit. Call a lawyer pronto. Take plenty of pics of the damage to your property also. Document it all asap.
