Been away for several days. Low & behold, they have started to resurface the Provincial Hwy. in front of our place. Using a new process where it chews up the existing surface, mixes it with 350 degree liquid tar, then inject the material with cold water which causes the road grind to literally explode so the oil penetrates 100%. It is immediately gets put back down and rolled as a base coat. They then wait 30 days for the water to evaporate out of it, before returning to lay the top lift. Supposed to be a super tight seal. Either way, the machine is really impressive if your a gear head..............................
They call the chewer a "turtle" here in Maine, but they usually haul the old stuff to a batch plant for the re-mix. That's pretty slick doing it right on the spot...
Yep, runs like a turtle..........LOL. Guy said if all goes well, they can get about 2 kilometers a day out of it.
Is that on 41? They started out near me at the buffalo farm and headed north. I didn't know it laid it back down right away, what a neat concept!
