Last load of the season, it is getting too hot. Split some of yesterday's load and guesstimated how much more I could fit. Went back to get the rest of the red oak trunk I started working on yesterday: Got four rounds, each 22" long and about 30" diameter and one about 12" long. Had to split them to get them on the truck, did sixths today. Not a full load but all clean red oak. I'll wait for a cool day, finish splitting & stacking then put everything away. Already let the chainsaw run dry and I'll empty the bar oil tank also. Time for the beach... KaptJaq
Looking good. Nice to know your done with the heat coming. The weather up my way has been really good lately, 70s and low 80s, nothing bad.
I agree Kapt. I rarely cut or do anything connected with firewood in the summer months. I'll gladly wait until December to begin again although I may try stacking some wood as I recover from a surgery this summer.
I agree with you, this weekend is my last load until the cooler fall weather gets here, I have about a cord left and half is already bucked, just have to finish it off and haul it home. We've been lucky it hasn't been that hot or humid yet here in the NE.
Wish our weather was that way...we went down to 74 last night, but today was kinda cloudy so it only got to 89! BTW, I noticed you are on the south shore..my brother lives in Duxbury, MA.
I would like to take the summer off but I take it when I can get it. Got 3 loads of ash rounds that need split and another load in a back yack yard that I need to get when it drys out enough to get to it.
The beach sounds much better than firewood gathering this time of year. I have about 4 or 5 cords to split but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. I'd like to see some hot dry weather here soon, tired of mowing every 3 to 4 days and I've had the pool open since Memorial day and only been in 3 or 4 times.
Just in time. Too bad I can't stop... I'll do a little at a time. But the water does sounds fine, just don't know about the beach...I did go to a beach once just to dip my toes in the water and to say that I had been to a beach. Enjoy the water & sun....
Nice town, Duxbury. ( we call it deluxbury ) I've done a lot of work over there, lots of cape style homes with cedar shingles. Very beachish...
