wife heard saws and trees hitting the ground all day today. currently there are only 18 trees slated to come down, 24-34". all oak and one ash. there may be up to twice as many more if they can get the skidder where they need to. those would be half oak and half tulip poplar. new saw inbound from Chvymn99! gonna have a lot of tops to clean up.
With all the leaves its hard to tell much of anything from the pics. Wife says they were only here from 8-11:300. Still a few marked trees left but they got a lot done i think.
Hump day wood cutting, eh coal reaper? Celebrate the end of each respective Wednesday with a pic or three! Then some posting- this thread will grow, grow, grow! How 'bout a short vid of that new-to-you saw in some of those tops, too? So clean up those limbs so they fit in a "thrown together" buck, and have at it! Oh, we'll need to see a buck station set of pics, as well! I only suggest the bucking station 'cos cutting little logs outta tops, and trying to pick them up/ haul 'em out is a PITB, but will be interested in seeing the operation, no matter what you come up with
Eric you crazy. Lol HDRock , leave em where they fall. I am okay with that cuz there not enough room where my stacks are and also the wood wont be dirty now.
I've been called worse! Lol! But you're young, and maybe you've got a better back than I do.... Still, a bucking set up makes for quick, centralized small log operations. A couple(or 3) of 2' x 8' pallets and yer gooder to go, man! If you search my posts, you'll see my set up
We're the oaks red or white? Around here they're not too interested in Tulip. It's good to hear they are buying Tulip from you as I have quite a few big ones.
Is the wood going directly to PA? I'm not aware of any mills in NJ. I regularly saw a loaded grapple truck and semi with PA plates in my neighborhood this spring and I'm in the very NE corner of NJ. I think they were getting logs from a large development/land clearing job going on nearby.
