His service is never forgotten. We all need to appreciate every man and woman that has served our country.

They are the reason our families sleep in peace at night.

Kimberly : I absolutely admire and respect your efforts to be self-sufficient. I just want to remind you that whenever you are dealing with wood/chainsaws to keep safety first. Personally, I have some hearing loss from loud noises and I absolutely make my living with my eyes (Pathologist). As such, I have every bit of ear and eye protection on all the times. Also, I have friends who have had bad injuries from saws or crush injuries +/- amputations from saws and logs. PLEASE remember "safety first" and everything else second.

    That said. "You go girl!!!!!"

    Well said.

I too have minor hearing loss, though I attribute mine to two daughters, four sons, and a wife who has a habit of breaking out into song(along with our daughters) at any given moment.

Yes, I know that chainsaws are dangerous tools and need to be treated with respect. I tend to cut the saw off when I need to carry it; maybe I have to start it more often but I don't want to get hurt. Some really nice folks on here have helped out with chaps and gloves and ear plugs and safety goggles. I will try to be careful and not get hurt.

Thank you for the kind words.

You can get hurt way more than just carrying it. So just keep that guard up.

    I know, right?

If you ask my Mrs she'll tell that my hearing is fine, it's my listening that is suspect.

However, in my defense, she has a habit of turning her head away when she is telling me something. Like I'm supposed to pay attention?

Kimberly ....when carrying a running chainsaw, I put the chain brake on...then if you trip/fall there will be no chance to get cut by the blade. It's a good habit to get in, and you don't have to keep starting it! Be safe!
