I bought these for work the other day and thought I'd share. They are consecutive serial numbered and I helped take them out of the box. I also had to put a new shaft on a FS90r because someone bent the tube.
Difference between that and the 90r? I run 90r's for my biz. Have they gone bye bye now for more expensive mtronic stuff? I see they ditched the flippy caps!
FS90r is the 4 mix and the 94r is a stratocharged 2 stroke. Dealer had both in stock and no word of discontinuing the 90.
If I ever have to replace my FS 85, it will be with a 94. My dealer tells me that the closest replacement, and I love my 85-13 years without a problem.
Picked up a 94R just a few weeks ago. It's twice the trimmer that it replaced; a 4 Stroke Cub Cadet that didn't last one season.
Any Stihl will outdo box store trimmers. The FS90 is a 4 stroke and they are workhorses. The only drawback is they have more moving parts with the valves and rockers and cam.
The FS94 is the trimmer we all wanted from Stihl. I like the 4 mix but it was heavy and mechanically more complex. I think Stihl will do well offering both for a time but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more strato 2 strokes in the future.
i just upgraded to an FS90 also. I like it so far. I'm not so sure it revs as fast as the dealer made it sound, but it runs strong if you keep it wound up. The the string that was loaded on the head from the factory seemed a little wimpy/soft. Anybody have a suggestion for better lasting string. I tend to cut high weeds and more brush than I should.
Oooh... 2 little beasts!! I should have waited until Tuesday to stop and get my splitter tire from you!! Thanks again for the repair!! You are a good friend!
Anytime Dex, let me know if I can help you again. Oh don't tell too many people I'm a good guy. It would ruin my bad reputation.
After seeing your work.. I won't tell anyone I'll save all my work for you. I may be having 3 wheelbarrow tires coming towards you soon. They were all flat today. I'll cut around around Cuyahoga Heights if I can use one of those 94's!!
