Made it to MI. Rained just enough to convince the kids to go to bed early but is letting up now. Looks like a great day tomorrow.

One of my kid brothers aimed straight at my face when I was babysitting them in my teens. I've cleaned up worse "messes" from the dogs - just not on me

Gas, I always throw them out because if they are damaged where I can't see chain is cheaper than doctors!
but let others who know more give you hope!

UGH! I think that chain was about $23. It is a Stihl. (Was?)

Unless it's your only chain I'd just take it to where it will cut and after a few more sharpenings you'll be back to sharp cutters, don't try to clean up a few teeth and leave the rest the same depth

You just have to think of John Candy in Uncle Buck. After he ate that 96 ounce steak, and you have to eat all the fat and grizzle! Then he and his buddy, I think it was Dan Ackroyd, came home and found the trash spread out all over from the Raccoons. "Ewe, look at the size of those maggots!
    :D:rofl:  Classic!

I have a shop sharpen them for me. $5 each, and they gets them real sharp. But if there is a possible risk there I would just chuck it. What do you guys think?

There is always people around at this time of year. Some of the bigger fancier boats have alarms on them. On the whole it is a fairly safe community of people even though they come from all over the world at times. You would be surprised at how often the same people keep showing up at the same time of year so they all get to know each other. We kept our sailboat there for a while and didn't have any problems.

Looks so clean and neat. Definitely would need more desktop area for my untidy piles. I don't dare share a pic of my work area as it would be censored by the "tidy people". I do like the way it doesn't take up much floor space.

Work whipped my booty today. Worked late last night and got up at 330am to hit the road to a job site. About 4 hours of fitful sleep is not enough.

    Going to bed now.

I remember the days of staying up all night...oh to be young and stupid again. :)

There's really not any risk associated with sharpening a chain that has hit something - the cutters get marred not the structural portion of the drive links.
$5 a chain isn't bad price wise, a clamp on Granberg vise and a few files you would break even at ~6-7 sharpenings and a whole lot less will be taken off if you sharpen extending the life of the chain.
I sharpen them all at once on a rainy day, it's easy to knock out 5 20" chains (with normal wear) in under an hour - a rough chain few passes with the file see where its at add a couple more and then file all cutters the same number of strokes, check and dress rakers
