So, after trying to find a "T", I hit some gravel about 2.5' down at the 7.5' mark or so.
Very tough to dig that, so I went back to plan X from Mars and started back at the tank outlet. Found this "sewer pipe" with a noticeable slope toward the field.

I got about 4' out before stopping. I may go back out later, but I'm beat.
While I was cogitatin' my plan, I mowed the lawn and the stack field, trimmed, and cut down our 3 dead Apple trees.
My wife came out to feed the chickens and tok a look, then asked if they (septic co.) had something to dig with. I told her they may, and she strongly suggested I have them finish the dig. I'm not done yet (too stubborn for my own good), but that may happen.
    Anyway, some progress.

I still remember when my younger brother was but a wee one, and mom was changing his diaper.........imagine a fountain, if you will.
I was about 10 and thought it was funny, but I'm sure mom didn't.

    Again, I'm thinkin'.....not really.:faint:

I'm with your wife on this. I'd hire it all out. And normally I do everything myself.

Yeah, I'm going to see what I find out at the 7.5' spot and probably make the call to see if they'll finish.

my system has a j-box about 10' downstream of the tank. j-box has its own lid; also has 3 separate lines going out. unless you have a very small system and very good soil your field will more than likely have more than on leach line.

interestingly, we been having a record month of May regarding rainfall and my leach field was more than saturated causing the colored water to daylight. drying up some now so the leachate is retreating back to where its sposed to go.

Hire the leach field work out. Save your money on other things. They have the tools and knowledge to get it done. Over with. You have to save your back and keep from being so frustrated.
The professionals will come in, fix it and go away. Then you can go back to wood cutting, grass trimming etc. Every time I did the heavy stuff, it took me ten times as long to get it done. Ok with some things, but not OK with others and certainly not OK when we are "older".

I'm starting to think I'm just about done with this Larry.
After a little more digging, if I don't find what I'm looking for, I'm making the call. They need to come back out to redo the outlet baffle anyway, so that once the tank starts filling, I don't have "stuff" spilling into the field.
Rained all day yesterday, so I couldn't do anything outside.

Went out again this morning and unburied some more of the "sewer pipe". Dug down and about 3.5' out, I found what looks like some kind of connection that veers at about a 30 degree angle toward the main part of the yard where the previous owners told us the field is.
I'm done.....for now, and called into the septic co., and the lady said they do offer digging services.
Waiting for a call back from the guy who pumped.

I hired a guy to dig mine up and then did all the work myself. Had a friend with a tractor come and fill it back in when I was done.

I think I'm in the home stretch now. That line angling to the left should either go out to a d-box, or a header......maybe.
The connection of the 2 pipes is weird. Shudda got a better pic.
    Rain again tomorrow.

So, got a callback today and the guy came back out to do the baffle for me. He brought his 7 year old boy whose name is the same as my grandson, so that was cool.
Shoulda' done it myself, but all I had to do was watch and ask questions.
Anyway, I feel better that that's done, and he's coming back next week to dig (I may help), and find a header/d-box/whatever, so he can jet the line/s.
I feel a weight off knowing something's getting done. Won't be too expensive either.
