First horse in 37 years to win the Triple Crown........ congrats to American Pharoah, his owner, trainers, and jockey. American Pharoah still has some racing ahead and only time will tell if he is in the same class as Secretariat, but one thing is for certain ...... there are only 12 horses in that classroom. I will always regard Secretariat as the greatest horse of all time.....but maybe someday another horse will prove me wrong. Knothead, Thanks for posting the race. I was just finishing my first year in college. Secretariat was the greatest horse of the last century. I remember that Saturday afternoon well. It is amazing how few times that has happened. American Pharoah is a great horse too. He made it look effortless!!
I was in my first year with the Marine Corps at MCAS New River N.C., when I watched on a black and white tv live Secretariat win the 1973 Triple Crown. I still remember that moment in time.......I will never forget that spectacular win at Belmont. Secretariat was the champion of all champions.
I'd be willing to be a few million that he's done racing. What more does he have to win? No reason to risk a broken leg when there are stud fees to be collected
This is exactly why I quit racing...But collecting the stud fees doesn't seem to be working out for me!!
