Sassafras?

    Hey CuckooChris, do you have any kind of pressure relief valve(sorry if I missed it above)? Other than that, I'd say some kind of enclosure over that barrel would help things, including the W.A.F. (wife acceptance factor, unless y'aint married).... Maybe you can check out the link below-

    Pretty neat options, and they've arrived at a very safe way to heat water while reducing the explosion risk to near zero.
    Of course, you might end up building a rocket stove, too....:D

    the best I can get currently is 12 degrees... so 70 in= 82 out, or 78 in = 90 out etc...

    About two month split and stacked. It dries very quickly and gets pretty light. Does not give off much heat. I have some split into kindling.

    I pretty much agree with Frank as it is not high moisture to begin with and what moisture it has seems to go away quickly.

    That's what I use crap wood for too. Along with a little October burning.
