MS440 project needing a new home. I got it as a 'complete' saw that ran, but not perfectly. It needed some carb tuning or perhaps a carb rebuild. I apologize, I checked compression when I got it and I want to say it was around 160 psi, but I'm going from memory. I'm certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that the compression was 150 or higher, or I wouldn't have taken it in trade. Due to some necessary missing parts I’m not unable to check compression. It had/has several aftermarket parts, so by my rules that meant it was a parts saw. I kept it on hand to assist in a recent build and what's for sale is what didn't get robbed. Here's what I can tell you... THE BAD (I don't want to make it sound like a junk saw, I just try to be very detailed) Clutch cover is aftermarket (no bar nuts included) Recoil assembly is aftermarket and missing the pull handle & cord, the pawls, and the pawl retainer spring (no mounting fasteners included) Air filter is aftermarket Wrap handlebar is aftermarket Top shroud is missing model badge & the brass bushings where the fasteners go, and has a chip out of it (no mounting fasteners included) Air filter cover was apparently repaired with some crafty soldering iron ‘weld’ work Fuel cap leaks Missing the hand guard, but other than that the complete brake mechanism is there Missing the bearing spacer Missing the oil pump worm Missing the cover washer Missing the clutch/needle cage/drum/rim/washer/e-clip Missing the top 2 short screws for the muffler front cover Missing the rubber carb grommet THE GOOD The saw is in good condition overall Has spark & ran prior to being robbed for parts Piston & cylinder are clean Cylinder is OEM, but not having pulled the top end I can't guarantee the piston is Buyer will get a new Walbro carb kit There are 26 of photos for your viewing pleasure HERE on Photo Bucket. Asking $200 + shipping & insurance to the lower 48 (will ship anywhere, but extra charges may apply). Payment to be made via PayPal “Friends or Family”. The only trade items I’m interested in are a Stihl 36” ES Light bar & chain, a 440/460 Madsen’s ¾ wrap, and an OEM dual port cover for my 044.
