I plan to have them do a new baffle (I have no interest, although from research it doesn't look difficult), and clean the line/s if needed. There was some fluid leaking back into the tank from the lines. I'm hoping the root mass filtered enough of the "crap" from getting out into the field, but since there were roots in the outlet, I'd guess there will be roots in the field lines. I'm thinking it would be a gooder idea to have them put in a filter as well. What say ye. Stay tuned.............
Smells as gooder as it looks... eh Dave? If they find you've got roots all thru the bed, do they run a powered root chompin' snake thru, or?
Good idea on a new baffle. Wouldn't guess a filter would have much effect on preventing roots. Might do a good job of stopping your system eventually, tho. Sounds as tho the bed is blocked a little if water's running back into the tank doesn't it? Prolly the dammm roots. Hope they can get em outa there, and they stay out. Do they ever nuke em with a root killer?
Not sure yet what the plan is for the field, since we don't know what's going on yet. The 2 closest trees have been turned into firewood, and we have another at the end of the house that I WILL take down if it causes problems (decent sized Maple). Another a little farther out next to the garden that I have no problem removing either. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the goodest. My honey was right about what was found so far........she's been saying roots for a while now. I dislike when she's right. Just watched another video that showed a guy pulling his filter to wash off..........loaded with "stuff". I think the root situation has been going on for quite a while.
"Just watched another video that showed a guy pulling his filter to wash off..........loaded with "stuff"." ... don't know how your luck runs... but mine would surely have that filter pluggin' things up here riiiight about Jan 18th, at 20 below... Putting in a brandy spankin' new baffle ought to keep "stuff" outa the field anyway... cept... roots... One really good thing about all of it is you're getting to know your entire system and exactly where everything is...
"My honey was right about what was found so far........she's been saying roots for a while now. I dislike when she's right." ............
Yeppers. I really want to see how the field is laid out, and how big it is. The tank seems to be just about 4'w x 8'l x 5' deep. Not exact, but pretty close. Which is why I'm on a tree killin' mission.
Beautiful Pics Bro!!! I couldn't hardly wait to get home and check in and see how you made out? Only reason is, I've been down this road before. I think you have a good chance of being back in business without installation of a whole new system. Anybody talk about 'jetting' the lines yet?
Dang I been thinkin' If you lay some of that solid stuff out and let it season over summer ya might be able to get some BTU's out of it come winter time
I thought about pressin' 'em into little saucers and using 'em as frisbees....or firestarters. Probly wouldn't wanna use 'em in a smoker, eh? The "guy" was thinking the same, but I'm Mr. Negative or Mr. Show Me, before I call it gooder. In the meantime, I'll continue worrying. Stick with what ya' know, right? Doubt he's gonna' make it back today for the video. He may have mentioned jetting, but I was so glad to see that root mass, I didn't pay close attention.
Dave I got one of them high tech have filters on mine with a green man hole cover thingy since top of tank is 5 feet down. if you put in filter remember to pull it once a year and rinse off with hose. it makes sense.. if you do not when the filter clogs and you tank fill it backs into lowest point usually washer or downstairs bathroom. luckily I did not learn this the hard way learned from buddy who did not rinse his. I may have helped him fix it but not in my house..
Wow, he came back, and he still had another job to hit afterward. Long day. Anyway, the results aren't great. He got the camera in about 7.5 ft, and must have hit a header that the cam couldn't get into. Hit a bunch of water just a couple feet in from the tank. I'll now be digging up where he hit the header so he can get in there and see what's up (no extra charge), then if feasible, high pressure jet the line/s (yeah, that's extra). He also said they offer RootX, which he would put in out in the header for full effect after the jetting. I'm gonna' feel like a pirate digging up "treasure" before this is all done.
When I posted earlier about it being shallow you at least don't have to dig to china for repairs. Do you have distribution box? Copper Sulfate is what you are looking for in a root killer - it is available in bulk online for cheap(er) than the box stores. IF you had roots that bad at the lid I'd guess you are looking a jetting, then maintain with copper sulfate every year
I can't handle the suspense. Maybe there's a "T" in 7.5 feet or so, and it goes off to right and left. Sometimes ole boys would do that kind of stuff, kinda shape the lines like a tuning fork. Hard to say ain't? Good luck man, hope you can get 'er up and runnin smooth again.
I thought I'd start the digging tomorrow, but I went out a bit ago and got a start on it. No idea about a d-box. I should have hit the "header" about 2' down, but no luck so far. I may have to just start digging at the tank, then follow the line out to see what I find, but that's a lotta' diggin'.
I'm not convinced there's a t and header. He may have just hit a big goober in the outgoing. I hope to know tomorrow, but it's slow going because, well, it's me doin' the digging.
my old septic tank had a single outlet pipe that went to a distribution box, that distribution box was maybe 2ft.w x 3ft.l x 1ft. d and it had 3 outlet pipes that went out to the drain field. When I popped the lid on that distribution box it was, well, kinda like your pics, a primordial sludge of nastiness that was wet, but near solid, not able to be shoveled, nor poured, and had an odor only a dog could appreciate.
Hope everything turns out well dave. I use this at the sewage plant all the time and it kills anything it touches.Just wondering if a guy could pour a load of it down the outflow into the drying bed??? I know it would kill all live roots.. https://www.acklandsgrainger.com/AG...lProductDetailDisplay.do?item_code=XDCJ436-4L
