Looking at a pile of splits (not by me) and trying to come up with a price for it. I think 4-5 cords but partner (firewood) thinks 5-6. Pile is 12'X22'X7' tall. Thanks.
As said, not my wood. It we buy it most will not be stacked. Any I bring home will be and that would be the locust that's in it. The rest will be sold. Thanks for the ideas.
With any luck, we can pick it up for around $400-$500. There's elm and maple (no complaints on it) that are a little past prime but still good wood. HL, elm, silver maple, mulberry, maybe some ash and a good chance some linden mixed in, but no pine.
In a heap it always looks like more than it is. I just stacked a heap a little smaller and it was just shy of 4. I would guess you're in the 5 cord range with that heap give or take a bit.
I'm with you. Piles of rounds never yield what I expect either. I should probably adjust my expectations
Oh, I agree it "looks" like more than it is. Most wood around here is sold by the pickup load and we get between $75 to $125 thrown in so we should make money plus get me some free honey locust. The guy is using a striped down super split and a DHT 27 ton for splitting. One thing is for sure, I would NEVER sell my wood this cheap.
Looks like you ran into a good deal and you will take what you want from it and profit from the rest. Like you said, they don't come around that often, gotta jump when they do.
