Buddy and fellow boxer dog lover called me at work today and said he had just cut up a storm fallen tree for a neighbor-thought it was black oak but wasnt sure---if I wanted it I should probably get today because it was "right beside the road"---Are you kidding me? On a dang Monday? Sweet load of red oak with some poison oak attached---just pried it off and hoarded on home... image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

A few of the rounds were 18"-nice addition to '17-18' stacks-Same guy who delivered the red oak and pig nut hickory to my wood pile/splitting area about a month ago-I'm the "dogfather" to his still too young boxer puppy he's awaiting delivery on---we've bred boxers before-need to buy him dinner as he doesnt drink anymore...

Hey Eric VW sounds like fun but I played in a golf scramble Sat (finished 4th out of 23) and cut Sunday (see Good Mornings Work thread) but I could have been persuaded I guess-was there BEER? Did you travel 77 to Charleston?

My buddy had some with poison oak attached. He burned it and any time he touched the stove doors or his bibs he wore moving it, he would break into rash. His wife got it too from washing his bibs. No point, just saying.

You've got a very valid point!

I'd debark that score and burn the bark in the pit. That way of you get any on you, it's only going to be once, not several times when you might not remember the consequences of handling the poison oak laced oak.

All good-I'm pretty resistant though PO does affect me, PI does not-I have felt a bit, think just because it was wet---it dies when cut, I showered and put hydrocortisone on all suspected areas...any rash will pass-the BTU's will burn hot...I am the Ashwatcher but damm I love the smell of red oak cut...pound for pound, it may be my fave-hotter than ash but not as hot as beech---white oak rules but has no smell and is nasty to handle-lots of mess bark wise but gooder:dex:
