Spent some good time with Wishlist today. We walked around the woods and I was simply amazed at how many white ash are down and how many others are partially down and some ready to come down. Even without felling another tree he has many, many days work just cleaning up the downed stuff. I was also amazed at some beautiful hickory trees in that woods. The picture is Wishlist in his Kabota with a trailer load of wood behind. Sadly, the picture does not do justice as the trailer is a good sized one. I also took a video as he was leaving and heading home but somehow goofed up the video. Sorry about that. When we got to his place I could hardly believe what happened. I got out of my car but left the key in the car. When I went back, the doors were locked. Oh, oh. But, I got to ride in his fancy car as he took me home to get another key. Thanks Wishlist for the day, for the ride and for the syrup.
It was nice Stinny and if I have my way, we'll be doing more in the future. He is a great guy to be around and one of these days I'm taking my tools with me so I can have some fun in that woods too.
You are right milleo. I used to always use one or two. Not sure it would work so well now because of the shape of the key we have but I surely need to do something. The only thing I can figure is that I bumped the lock button as I was getting out. But now at least I'm aware of it. But wouldn't that have been awful if nobody was home? I tried calling my wife and she was not in the house so no answer. On the good side, when I got home I found that she had been in the back garden hoeing the corn which I had planned on doing soon.
Lol...I locked my keys in the blazer but wasn't worried cause I had a hide a key under the rig....well...it was pitch black out and I couldn't find it soooo...I managed to borrow a flashlight so I could find it...Guess I need a hide a light too....
Thanks for the good times Dennis, had a great day even with the locked keys. Lol You all should have seen Backwoods eyeing up all the dead ash. He was like a kid a Christmas, " there's one , look at that one Bob no branches, there some already down waste high easy cutting". Lol.... It's sad seeing all those trees dead from a bug , but hopefully I can make a small dent in the woods and put to use a fraction of that wood. What was really interesting as we first walked in was a bunch of young sugar maples. As we walked I noticed a ash tree , not huge maybe 12" dbh . I looked up and seen something I haven't seen in years , a full nice canopy of ash leaves. Huh????? I asked Dennis for help with this tree ID and we walked away from it a bit and looked up and both agreed it was an ash. I was really suprised to say the least.
I've known Dennis for more than a few years Stinny. Still can't teach him the "correct " way to split wood!
That's kinda like fishingpol story, only Dennis just locked his keys in the car. It's a Murphy thing!
Can't teach an old dog new tricks. Luckily and its a wonder, he hasn't froze to death yet. . ( I split vertical too)
Horizontal or vertical split ash both/either make a great stack of BTUs All in all, a good day with good memories
