I don't hate b&s motors, I just don't like how the company operates. Being in Milwaukee, I see it every day
Hey gentleman-it was indeed bad casting-took to shop this morning-they said they had never, ever dealt with that issue-part should be in Monday-and fwiw, I'm no fan of MTD either-the reason I ended up with this splitter is another matter, but the Honda engine was something I wanted-always been a fan of Kohler too
Just curious Horkn - Wonder why B&S would put a Honda engine on a Cub Cadet splitter? Is B&S owned by MTD?
Just seems funny that they would sell a competitors engine on a machine they produce-says a lot to me, just saying
Yeah, they may have infringed on a Honda patent and had to do this to make up for it. That sort of stuff happens all the time. Looking into this more, Briggs makes mtd, which owns cub cadet. So that's why there's a honda on it. Interestingly, ariens owns husqvarna tractors, and has husky make the ariens tractors. Now I bet ariens makes the new line of husky snowblowers. If ariens makes a ariens branded husky chainsaw, then I'll be more conflicted with saw choice.
Doesn't MTD make all sorts of machines for other companies? I think they make more mowers than anyone else but not sure.
yeah they do, they make all kinds of different stuff for other companies Toro, Ryobi, Cub Cadet that's just a couple
I had a filter housing blow like that some 12 years ago on my then brand new HF splitter figured it was installed backwards, as the first time it happened it just blew the filter off, second time fixture let go. Haven't had a problem since I replaced the fixture, although popped a couple hoses over the years. Oh and I can't complain about the 8hp briggs that came on it still running strong after all this time and 100's of cords. same pump and cylinder too - wore the valve out though. Got a Prince on it now.
Any chance of the warranty covering the hydraulic fluid lost? That could cost as much or more than the filter mount.
Whether the warranty would, which I suspect, the dealer is changing it fresh along with the oil for the trouble and inconvenience-he's my Stihl dealer and we go way back-the machine had less than 8hrs on it
1) Hope your dealer makes it right. 2) Love my Kawaski V-twin, 17 hp. in my JDx304. Always starts and runs without a question. I run it hard and put it up wet. However, I do change the oil, oil filter and air filter very regularly.
