What the heck is causing this ?
I haven't used this in a long time cuz I have to replace a flail blade , I am fixing it so I can use it .
I didn't put much gas in it to start with , the gas stopped pouring out and I fired it up ,ran about 10 minutes , then I put more gas in and it started pouring out of the carb again .
I made a vid I will put here later
    It is a tecumseh engine

Yeah that does seem to be running a little rich... I'm no expert on this stuff, but maybe there's some kind of check valve that's not closing, and the gas is just gravity feeding down to the carb? Just a guess.

I have one just like that, except it has an 8HP engine I think. Probably the most worthless piece of equipment I ever bought - it's so slow! It would take me a full day with that thing to do the brush from one small tree. You want mine? :)

I didn't watch the video, but my splitter's carb leaked past the bowl o-ring. I assume ethanol. Replaced it and all good.

I'd pull the bowl and check to see if the float is filled with gas. If so replace. If not, clean the seat and float valve.

the bowl gasket should never see liquid with the motor off, it will splash while running, but the float and the inlet valve should stop fuel from getting that high in the bowl

Correct but combine that with a bad needle or one thats worn or not seating which he probably also has and you get a leaky carb.

The running rich ...well I am taking others word as I did not watch. But that is classic bad needle allowing too much fuel in.

I just put cut off in my stuff now. I have an MTD rider that no matter how much I rebuild it still seems to leak fuel when shutdown and will try and hydro lock the engine. I just cut the fuel when I shut down

Float stuck - clean carb , Change oil as its likely diluted with gas.

Thanks for the replys everyone
Took the carb apart, cleaned it up put it back together she's running good now, no gas flowing out of the carb, the oil looked, felt good, no gas smell.
Was a lot of junk in the bowl and that little deal that holds it on, on the bottom was full of crap, plugged right up.
Those that didn't watch the video it was coming right out from inside the carb

it wasn't running rich Shawn was just joking because it was pouring out.
In the video you can see it coming right out of that little tube on the left inside the carburetor

Yeah it has been sitting for a long time I figured I would have some problems, I had never seen gas pouring right out from a carburetor as soon as you put it in the gas tank.
You can lay the large shoot down onto the ground and rake leaves into it and shred them up, that's OK as long as you don't rake any rocks in there, that's how I broke the flail blade tang, then it was out of balance and vibrated like crazy, today I took two of them off to run it, smoothed right out, just have to order a new one
