I feel your pain brother. Sure is a quick way to alter plans when you go down to the basement and find standing water!
Three sump pumps? Holy crap! Must've added on to your basement a few times or what?
Ended up working late (again) a few years ago and 99 lbs calls me to say the basement is flooded...sump pump wouldn't turn on. It is a pedestal with a rising float switch but that was not the problem. The electrical circuit that the pump is on tripped the GFIC....on that particular night anyway. Fixed that one over the phone.

Brings back a thought about one of those pedestal pumps for us too. Only, our problem... after we found 6" of water in the basement with that pump in place running, but not pumping... the check valve was corroded closed... :picard: I splashed over, realized that might be it and took the #%@^&%$ valve off... ran like a top and drained the basement in about 4 hours.

When we bought this place 3 years ago, it had 2 pumps going almost all the time. First spring, we had a new 4" line put in to the drainage system under the basement floor... no more pumps now...

Cheeseburgers do it for me as I grill out more this time of year.

Maybe you have ipa-itis. It is a very common condition that can happen in the warmer months. It is caused by being exposed to grills, lawn chairs and fire pits. No need for concern though.

    I feel for you
I recall fighting rising water in my mother's basement ~'96 rained for days upon end.
hooked up the old pedestal pump in addition to the upgraded one and water was still popping the hydraulic cement off some of the old rebar forms, as it continued to come up out of the sump hole I bucket brigaded out the bulkhead until I couldn't work any longer, the new carpet & pad was a total loss

    That's gotta be a nightmare.
I'm on Winter Storm watch again, 8-12" forecasted by tomorrow night.
Not that it will actually happen, but I will have snow on the ground in the morning.

Long term Accuweather forecast had me snowing June 7th. Way too far out for them to even have a clue what it might do around here.
I haven't seen a snake in 4 years, kinda miss them. No, not rattlers.

Stin we found a rat snake with a bullfrog in its mouth about the size of my fist in a valve vault at work today.
We didn't have to go in the vault just some training on piping systems with a new guy - that snake bit off more than it could chew.
If he actually swallows it I'll get some pics tomorrow

When it gets hotter outside, I'll start ripping the carpeting out of our basement. It got soaked from the water softener acting up and it is gross. It's all salt crusty.

No more carpets in the basement

I'm thinking no more basement. Next house is going to be grade level, tired of water issues. Plus my wife has ortho issues.

I love our open concept ranch. But I do like a basement for a lot of reasons. Just not any organic floor covering on a concrete floor. Just the concrete sweating will ruin a pad and carpet.

We've had 3 rattle snakes. One was in the entry of a rental house in college (garage to rental conversion = wood stove for heat........you can add the rest). That snake met up with a broad point behind the head.

The second one showed up at our home 7 miles north during excavation while we put an addition on our home (tractor with hammer rock breaker) and bit our American Brittany on the shin. Thank god the local vet clinic located anti venom, dripped overnight into the pup and she survived. Not sure the means he used, but our kind contractor took care of that one.

The third one was a small one in the attached garage to our home at that same addition years later. That one met with a shovel.

Very scary, it was 1998, she was ~6~9 months old. Came home from work with driveway and south end of house dug up and called the dogs. 2 out of the 3 came. Called her name some more, and she finally stumbled up the ramp, quite woosy, and her lil leg was so swollen I thought it might burst her skin. Thankfully the local vet was open til 6 pm and it was only 5:30, rushed her down there and they confirmed the bite and started the IV drip. A bit later my general contractor called back and confirmed he killed a rattlesnake. Husband went out to dug up driveway and found the body of the large snake in a furrow.

Our place is slab on grade. On top of that, our lot is above both roads surrounding it. Water just rolls away in all directions. Also ranch style with just one floor and NO STEPS. Great when you hit 65..............
