    Lesson learned… "back to my old motto" if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I should have just kept it for camping and stuff, It was a nice oven casserole pan. "not any more" :picard:

    My elderly mother decided to have a garage sale yesterday, and asked me to help her setup some tables....in the morning. So I swing buy and give her a hand and wallah! I find this Wagner sitting there ready to be given away ridiculously! She had it marked $1, which means she would have gotten 50 cents for it! I ask her where she got it, and she says "I don't know, I think your grandmother gave that to me....".

    Love this pan, nice and smooth polished finish in it. Wish Lodge would make them like this! Anyone know how old this might be? And is it a 6" or an 8"? Measures 6 on flat bottom, 8 across widest point... Which is the real measurement?

    Usually good info here. Looks like 1935-59, with the logo as it is, and no heat ring. Nice piece.

    And it's a '#5'. Old pans are numbered, but measurements aren't always consistent. I have a #8 BSR that is considerably bigger than my #8 Wagners.

    Yup, I got a small herd of um… They are sweet pans and that looks nice and clean for it's age. Thats a "GREAT" fried egg pan for a sandwich!

    Used if for exactly that this morning, perfect eggs, perfect clean up. LOVE this pan. I have to look for a a few of these one each size and then sell off my Lodge stuff.

    Got a call, my new gas stove is in. Will be a while before I can use it. The future kitchen is a gutted room at this point.

    Oh boy. That'll happen. You'll be wasting lots of time at flea markets and estate sales. I've found the best deals at garage sales. Antique places are a possibility, but they usually want premium prices, just like eBay.

    We got rid of all non-stick stuff. Everything is cast, except for four stainless saucepans.

    This looks like a nice pan to have, but at $99. it is too steep for me. the site that sells it,

    The other day, my wife says "We should get a big cast iron skillet for cooking on the fire and outside grill." I says "Why yes... That sound's like a great idea, honey." Big brown truck of joy delivered a brand new Lodge 13.5" skillet and lid today.:D I love my wife!

    I did that years ago! I've collected an assortment of " Revere ware" stainless, "the best" on the market in my opinion, and my cast pans. I'm now getting close to 75 pieces of cast, o_O mainly by accident. If I'm at a flea market, tag sale, etc… and the price is right, I can't walk past it!:loco: :crazy:

    The only negative to something that wide is that it won't heat evenly unless you have a center burner. Our griddle that covers the entire stovetop only cooks on the ends.

    Wait, I just looked at it.

    It's aluminum, so it will probably heat more evenly.

    And it has a non-stick coating.

    good point, I can see how having different temps can be good on a grill, but not so much for a skillet.
