I've taken my little girl turkey hunting a number of times this year. The hunting was tough here this year. The birds we were after had been hunted hard and were really call shy. Earlier this week we were on a few gobblers that literally ran the other way as soon as I called. So this afternoon I took her out after spotting three gobblers and a hen in a field. We made a stalk up a creek and got within 150 yards. Knowing they are call shy we just sat tight and positioned ourselves as best as we could. With a stroke of luck they turned and came right down the tree line to us. They made it to about 30 yds and I held the gun for her as she got ready to pull the trigger. This big gobbler picked his head up perfect and she made the shot. I was shocked when we went out to get him. Huge bird and he has 1 1/2" Spurs with a 10" beard. Her first bird and it's bigger then any bird I've killed. Very proud of her right now.
Awesome job and photos. Congrats to you and the little miss. I'm heading out with my son in the morning.
Congrats !! Since it's her first, tell her she has to eat it all by herself. In one meal. The look on her face should be priceless !
Wow man that's a great bird! Congrats to your her and you! The smile says it all. That pic is priceless
