I shipped a MINT 460 in an original Stihl box with no filler around it. It arrived in perfect condition from what I hear. The Stihl boxes have long flaps that can be trimmed to hold the saw in place. Heck, your dealer might even have a 290 box. (They are all very close in size however) The best is a double box system. The saw in its box, that box in one only slightly larger with crushed newspaper or whatever around it. I also double boxed because I was leery of shipping in a box that said Stihl all over it. But Stihl ships them that way every day so ??

I don't need the bar but any chain that finds it's way in there might grow fangs while it's here.;)

Try asking for a box at your dealer. They are usually happy to oblige.

Remember to drain the oil and gas. I then put the saw in a heavy duty garbage bag and tie it nice and tight. Don't water your package smelling like fuel or they might not ship it.

When I ship a saw, I try to envision the box being literally thrown around, so I pack it full of filler until the saw can't move and then when I think I have enough tape on the outside, I add even more.

Sorry brother but I can only take on so many "for a cause". If I ever need a 362 for a vid, I'll keep ya in mind tho!

I need this one to be an 1127 series saw (290/310/390) because of how popular they are and how BADLY the mufflers are choked up stock. They respond quite nicely to the mod too.

I tryto double box. But if its single box, it has extra cardboard put on all sides and an extra piece on the bottom. Then I stuff as much fill'er in as possible.

As HittinSteel said, I picture them throwing these boxes around and kicking it down the drive way.

Chvymn99- If you want to just send the Muff? And you retune (lots of good videos)? I would gladly do the 034 muff? The 362 is a mess IMO and don't like touching them. PITA... Be pretty cheap to ship just the Muff.

Kind of like Jim Carey in with "in living color" or some movie where he was kicking the box around. I think it was Jim Carey I'm thinking of??

I was thinking that one. Bit the whole pet detective thing I was like why would he of been kicking a box?? But I can still see that scene in my head all these years later and when dex wrote whatever he did made me think of that Jim Carey scene and laugh!

Ok, let me see how I come out with the 290 retune. To see if this is something I want to continue doing.

I was thinking after I posted, maybe that's what he did as a day job? No...maybe as cover?

Your right but no way is my memory that good I can't remember that. It must of been 13 years or more since I had seeƱ that movie.

Lots of them out there Clem. Just Google image search. Your Google fu needs worked on Grasshopper :)

Lots of different variations in them. Whether you want to derail, it has been derailed, or you like where it's going.

To get back on topic, a very good mod is a fresh stihl RSC chain if you're not running it already.

Real sharp chain is the best mod you can do.
