Ive about convinced myself on higher viscosity in carb. Saws and less viscosity oils for electronics but also that depends on how well the oil burns off itself?

K2 seems to work fine @32:1 In the 550. 40:1 is what I tried with it last. I haven't pulled the muffler or anything to check it.

What do you think a rejet on the 550 to run r50 or 800t at 32to1 would do? I still favor those oils for the bottomend at 32to1

I don't know. I have run 800 through it and it seemed fine. R50 also. H1R and super it runs like crap. May be the fuel also.

Except these 2 oils (R50 and 800 off road) are very thick, yet show no signs of needing additional fuel in carb saws, and have run great in anything autotune/Mtronic I have put them in ..................... havent had a 550 to try them in yet though

H1R ran crappy even with VP (compared to 800 off road or R50) ..................

I think the 800 off road and Klotz R50 have shown to be the leaders of the pack from running in everything I have ................. nice oil coating on all internals, no tuning issues, crispy throttle, stable high ends, smoothe power in bikes, hedge trimmers, saws, blowers, pumps, string trimmers

Well I'm not going to try any more H1R in anything. I've got a little bit in a jar left. I give the last liter I had away. I'm going to order some R50 and original next time I order. I have some 800 left to use. I can't remember how much since I've used it as low as 25:1 milling.

Yeah I plan on it. Should have some weekends in June to saw and build a few saws.

Amusing. Wherever you go in the 2 stroke world, everyone is a leading expert when it comes to premix oils. The arguments are always endless and circular.

I have read many an article, and run many an oil type and blend, and I am now running 3oz/gallon of Jaso FD full synthetic oil (using Homelite now) in super nonethanol gas with StaBil red added to my 5 gallon cans at the pump. My gas stays fresh that way, and I have never blown a chainsaw or blower or trimmer engine.

I believe that more lube gives your low end better protection and better ring seal for better compression. From my experience 100% full synthetic is better for low smoke as well as no carbon buildup on the piston or in the muffler. I used to use dyno oil and that gunked up the muffler screens pretty bad.

The more I think about that I may not wanna classify oils with viscosity. K2 and h1r are almost the same VI but look at the different burn qualities. Look at the low VI of Ultra and the high VI of r50 or 800t but they both burn cleaner than Ultra ? The quality of the oil, PIB, solvents, additives I think contribute to how well they will ignite and combust? I dont think all oils r equal or react the same to the combustion process but anyone who says oil is oil is really fooling themselves

Some carbon builup of the right type is normal on top of the piston if using the right oil and u r tuned correctly. If it stays perfectly shiny you are way too rich and washing the top of the piston

What I think is hilarious, is one guy, who makes 1 CUT per time. Is able to turn an entire community against an oil.

His testing (although he tried and tried hard) was not sufficient. He made ONE cut. Then they changed ratios? And then timed that cut (a single cut on an ever changing log)

Does anyone else not see the problem?

H1R.. Good Oil. :D Not the end all be all. But I would not run it based on the thread that was deleted on another site.

We took my 460 apart in Iowa on Sat night. Not just the exhaust, all the way down to the intake. That saw has been ran a lot and there is Zero carbon build up and pulls 215 psi. Exhaust is shiny as a mirror

Protection and performance may be two different things. But I have been running H1R for awhile now. All saws I have taken down (with the exception of the Solo. I ran a lot of Dominator through it at 32:1 and there was plenty in the crankcase and cylinder) have been very well oiled.

Performance? I have owned a lot of saws. My 460 is still my favorite and the saw that has been ran the most. Those people that have ran it? Don't think performance is hurt by the oil ratio

My new 661 on its first tank ran really good. But had SquareFile chain on it. ;)

Ive only ran 1 661 and it was stock with a 32 full comp buried. It sure chugs right on along. Impressive. As far as the h1r ive ran a good bit but never had the tuning oddities everyone else had but did see like a dodo brown transparent buildup on the piston crown. Id use it but it would be my last choice out of r50, 800t, r2, and K2

I was against h1r a long time ago when I couldn't get a 066 to tune down. It went from 13.8k to 15.2k with a change to the H1r. Had to open the jet almost 2 turns to get it back to 14k. That and my nose would run after using it for more than a couple cuts and quit. It may protect good but the extra fuel usage is a big thing when milling. I could finish cuts with one tank on some fuels but not with H1r.

Ya the h1r smell got to me in cramped quarters also . So far r2 shows the best looking residual oil in the exhaust to me and the least smell to my nose
