Thought I'd start a thread for Jeeps. I can't be the only one afflicted. This is our 3rd one in 40 years. Use it for plowing snow, summer fun and getting to Portland today when the truck's wipers decided to quit in the rain 1/2 way there... Went back and got the ole Jeep out... Just love Jeeps I guess. Nothing special, just fun to go to the cabin in or running around town.
Yes, i had the jeep illness for awhile..... https://db.tt/ycJRig3o https://db.tt/2ip8zewB https://db.tt/rhcFADZY
Ha... looks like you got serious with it too. I'm sure I could have mine on it's roof in no time doing that stuff...
I'll have to dig deep for some of our family Jeep "photos." Well before the "pic" phase people have been in for several years... Love them Jeeps- we had a '76 Cherokee & a '76 CJ-5 growing up, and my brother had a '75 & '78 Cherokee when he came of age...
We like jeeps too, just not the same as you guys. We have had 2 grand Cherokees. Awesome SUV that fits our lifestyle. We have 2 boxers that travel with us and you can't beat them in the snow.
My family and I have had a couple. My brother had a cj7 that I did a frame on restoration on it, then he later bought a 2000 or so xj Cherokee sport 4.0. My mom had a 93 zj grand cherokee limited 4.0 quadradrive that I bought from her and I had that until I traded it in on my Audi. She got a wj grand Cherokee ltd 4.7 v8 after I bought her zj. The wj was a LEMON. It was limited as to what worked that day. Sometimes the engine wouldn't work. I've been thinking of getting another Jeep. The new v6 trailhawk Cherokee is intriguing. I like the new grand Cherokee, but it gets stupid expensive for what it is. I can buy a German vehicle for that $.
Back in the 70's, I bought a 48' that had a chevy V-8 stuffed in it. Played with that (when I was a lot younger and a whole lot more foolish). Scared myself enough to get rid of it before my "his" became a "was"...................................
My '03 TJ that I sold a few years ago. Had a lot of fun with it. Wife and I used to belong to a Jeep club. The only part that wasn't fun was cleaning the mud off of it, inside and out. The '04 WJ in the background is what I drive now, it's pretty rugged as well. It was a hand me down from the wife, but I talked her into getting it in the first place.
I have owned several CJ's in the past and would love to start another project. Maybe a 70's CJ-5 this time? Oh well...here is my daily driver...'96 XJ
I'd realy like to find a nice cean late XJ and do some work to it. Simple to do and very reliable. My brother has a 98 that has over 275,000 miles on it.
One thing I miss about my jeep more than anything is the lack of electronic motorized crap. I don't mind cranking the windows by hand at all. There's a hot wire in the driver's door of my WJ that's broken twice and it's a pita to get into and fix. When it breaks, all the car's electronics go haywire. I baby the heater/ac on it because I've read that it's notorious for breaking and is a nightmare to fix. Another thing that's great about jeeps in general is that there's so much repair info on them to be found.
