I have only had mine about 10 months so I have not had any issues yet it sentto be built like a tank. I am happy with the decision to buy bad boy. As you know Dexter is my best friend and I wanted a Dixie chopper like his but money said no. Badboy I got more for the money compared to the Dixie chopper same size and hp.

This is true, and usually when someone goes to the Internet to bash a company they are already jaded.

I'd have to look into the specific model used but nearly all machines have integrated the pump and wheel motors into one unit now. Like anything else, some of it is junk, some of it is tolerable and the rest is pretty decent. The price tag is usually the best indicator of what you're buying. I'm old school in that I prefer the separate components and horizontal crank engines but alas the industry has largely gone the other direction.

I am in the market for a new (or new to me) mower as well so I have done some research. I think you are stuck on Hydro-gear - it is the name of the manufacturer for the drive systems in these ZTR mowers. When you see Hydrogear EZT (2200) that is their low end tranny, then there are numbers 2800 or 3100 or 3400. Past the EZT they at least have serviceable filters but they are a common unit - drives both wheels and deck, etc. I haven't looked into the true commercial units to see if they also use Hydro-gear.

The one I am looking at has dual 3100 hydro gear drive system. It's the Bad Boy ZT elite series. Has a Kohler pro 7000 motor. MasterMech know anything about those motors?

If you look at the discharge I went with the advanced chute system. It was a couple hundred bucks but prevents blowing towards buildings, flower beds

3100 is Hydro-gear's first "commercial rated" drive system. It is still integrated, but that was what I was targeting as well, albeit in the Gravely HD Z with the Kawasaki. Then I found the used machine and bit the bullet on that instead.

3100s are much better than than EzT as others said. And Luke is right, for non commercial use I think you will do just fine. A coworker of mine just bought a Husqvarna MZ61 and loves it. Might be worth a look that way too.

I noticed the advanced chute. Is it something that can be used all the time or is it better to just use around stuff. Does it help to mulch the grass without a "mulching" kit. I don't have many flower beds or anything that I'm to worried about, I don't let the kids near me when I mow but occasionally the neighbor kids run into my yard so that may help just in case.

Yes sir. A 6 pack cooler.

When you can cut about 4 acres in an hour (7 or 8 is their claim) with no obstacles? You deserve a few cold ones (that is why I do not mind having a cup holder). To cut that much in that time? I can wait for another cold one ;)

The key to drinking beer on a ZTR is bottles...you can hold the neck with 2 fingers and a thumb...and to adjust one lever full forward about an inch being the other to give you room to pull you non drinking hand back to steer a little. Or so I've heard.

Those kinds of chutes are slick, but no substitute for a full mulch kit. They are for part-time use and will do what you want I think but will not mulch leaves or heavy clippings like a mulch kit will.
