Saturday I helped some students clean up the nature trail behind our high school. There were some trees uprooted and blown over that were blocking the trail. We had some other things to do around the school on Saturday but we did get the trail clean and got a load on the truck. It's all pine by the way. I unloaded the wood in a separate area from where I stack on Sunday, so that I could split in the shade, as Sunday was above 85 in my area. Here are the pics when I threw the splits back on the truck. Then on Sunday afternoon I stacked this, along with some other wood that I intend to use in the fall shoulder season. I made double row 5 pallets long. It consists of pine, poplar, some chunks and some oak that is a bit punky. Hopefully this will keep the good stuff from being burned until December.
Jealous....85º On Sunday I think we topped out at 42º and was snow/raining all weekend. I love the smell on a cool fall morning of a pine fire warming things up.
That's a good load of pine, red oak, it looks like the truck hardly even noticed. Our Ford Ranger has been a hard working reliable tool through the years hauling wood i gotta say. Always good to stand back a few minutes looking at a new stack with a feeling of accomplishment. At that point you've handed the process over to the wind to do its drying magic.
