Not too much aesthetic difference between the two models, eh tuneighty? Is the first one yer dad gave you still holding up? Got a pic of the new Green Egg at your dad's?
No pics of the green egg yet. He hadn't got it just yet, but was ready to part with the grill while we were up visiting. The only difference is the new one is a 3 burner. The old one still fires up with the first push, has brand new stainless steel flavor bars on it too. That is the only thing I have done to it. It has to be at least 15 years old, if not older.
I got an old 15+ year old Weber Genesis Gold natural gas grill, still works like a champ, although some of the powder coating is starting to come off the side of lid. I use my Green mountain smoker more than my weber now though this is the one I have, i stole this pic off the web, funny the powder coating is coming off that lid as well
He is going to LOVE the Green Egg!! I gave away my old Weber about a year after getting the Egg as I was not truly convinced of it until I got the hang it. Now its used 3-5 timeas a week during summer months and several times a month all winter. Myself and another here that use a Kamado cooker both swear by Royal Oak lump. No need for the expensive stuff as this brand is perfect, IMHO. Lights and relight easy, burns even and long. Also, from what I understand BGE lump is actually Royal Oak for twice the price. Home Depot carries this at a reasonable price-and had it for 10 bucks a bag last weekend.
