I haven't had a near-miss yet with the chaps - is there a particular situation that led to yours?

Probably from cutting brush, late in the day, should have quit an hour ago...

I bought (on sale) one of those nifty Husqvarna logging helmets with all the do-dads on it. Wish they would have added a flashing light but I can duct tape one on :p. I need to get a pair of chaps, but will probably get a pair later in the summer. Only problem is, I'm fat so they may make me look like Baby Hughie, unless they come in huge size?

I only hope when I get all this kit, someone doesn't mistake me for a real logger and ask me to cut down a tree.

If I'm cutting on a pile I use my Labonville chaps, but if I'm felling and skidding I use my Husqvarna pants :http://www.husqvarna.com/de/forst/zubehor/motorsagen-zubehor/bundhose-20-a-functional/ I find that the chaps get hung up on brush at times and more importantly on the levers in my tractor when I am getting in and out; that's why I prefer the pants for those situations.
I also have their new Technical Helmet. By far the best helmet I've used. Lightweight, great fit, and the ear muffs fit snug. The best part is the face screen. It is so finely meshed that I often find myself reaching to flip it down prior to making a cut and realize that it's already down!

I wear prescription safety glasses as well.
In the summer I use a steel toed boot; at some point I'd like to get some with chainsaw protection in them.
In the winter I wear Husqvarna rubber safety chainsaw boots. These are very well made and great for working in the snow or wet early spring conditions.
I also wear a Husqvarna Pro Forest jacket when it's cool enough outside to warrant it.
For gloves I wear these that I pick up at Home Depot:

I have large hands and it's pretty hard for me to find gloves that fit well. These not only fit well, but have managed to outlast any leather pair I've bought in the past.

Labonville chaps, boots, and a Stihl mesh mask with ear muffs-designed for trimmer use. I work on downed trees or loads of logs-no felling.
