Those are good prices Griz! Like that link to Outdoorunlimited, I can find all the .22lr I want at some of the smaller gun shops in my area, but they are trying to rape customers and I refuse to give them business. I'd rather wait and hope to find ammo at sensible prices than give into the price gouging.

So thanks again to bocefus78 for posting the link to that deal at Midway! I got 6 boxes of the Federal Target for around $20/box after shipping. Hopefully that along with the couple bricks of Golden Bullets I have keeps me going through this summer.

 

My local dealer has good prices when they have it.

 

I've heard different opinions, but still don't understand why 22LR is in short supply.

I agree. Not that I blame them. I have several thousands of rounds hoarded, most of it is 223. I've only bought 100 rounds of 22 since 2012 (Sandy Hook). Luckily, I had 3-4 thousand rounds of 22 when the panic hit. I use it very sparingly now and still have most of it left. I'm not willing to give more than 5 cents/round for 22 (yet). If people are willing to give 20 cents a round for it and keep the shelves bare, the price ain't going to come down. If it gets back to less than 2 cents a round (Federal 550 jacketed hp-pre 2008), never mind, I'm dreaming.......

We can blame the hoarders for the shortage, but in reality most of us have been turned into hoarders because of it. Back when I could walk into any Walmart and buy .22 I only kept a few bricks at home. But now that I never know when I'll be able to buy .22 ammo again, I buy it whenever I see it on the shelves as long as the price is reasonable.

 

I don't like stockpiling stuff that I may never use, but I'm definitely not going to run out or be caught with my pants down.
I try not to go crazy , just gather a little at a time when we can afford it, and , most of all , when the price is reasonable. I like to use the rewards from the local sporting goods stores to buy ammo already on sale.

You have to be a hoarder of it now. If not I can blast through 1k rounds of 22 in an outing if that's all we shoot.

 

I have been building a stock pile, but I would not have bought the amount I have if I could rely on it being on the shelves.

I have thousands of rounds of the federal auto match from. Cabelas for $18.99 I had all kinds of FTE. One mag in the 22/45 had 5 in a row!!
