I like seeing build threads, even if its an old whipper saw someone is fixing up to cut fire wood with. Any interest out there for pics and a story on how saws are rebuilt? I'm planning to put something together for the recent batch of Jonsered 670s that I have on the bench, and maybe a 268xp.
Good to see some interest! I spent some years over at another saw forum that a lot of you are familiar with, but the tech content has kind of gone away. I'll get started on one of the 670 Jonnies and post pictures when there is something to look at. It would be great to see a rebuild thread on a classic old Dolmar, big Poulan Pro, a Husky 2100 or something like that. Anybody working on magnesium from the 70's or 80's?
Today i will start a full rebuild a Husqvarna 262 , just for the members of the FHC forum i will do it with the two methods First i do it with Husqvarna OEM tools, splitters, pullers , seals pullers, e.t.c for the members see the tools and how they work, also i will tell the p. numbers of the tools in case that someone want to buy And then i do it with the home made methods , like ovens, freezer , hot airguns , and simple tools that everyone have in his house
That will be good to see. Just like working on air cooled Volkswagens, there is the proper way with special tools and then there are two or three other home-brew methods that work fine too.
What, we need to turn this site into another ArboristSite? There are enough build threads over there to sink the internet, IMO. Never mind all the wars about what mods work better and why, what modders do better work and why, etc. etc. I am really tired of it myself.
A good build is always welcome. IMO. Most people here (read: Everyone) will treat one another with respect and comment appropriately. People want to learn and the majority here are looking for that knowledge, more than they are willing to critique
I think AS had more build threads several years ago, and that sort of went away. One thing that irritates me over there is when someone starts a post with saw project or just needing help it turns into 5 pages of off-topic bs. Anyway, FHC is a nice change and I hope it does well.
I'm hoping build posts stay on topic too, but as for any other topics- free range, free game for exponential tangents- usually just enough to bring some laughs/ independent experience, and then(or eventually) back on topic. Great attribute of FHC, for sure!
At least rebuild one of them, and shoot a vid, then post!? New song to rebuilding like me would really enjoy that!
I'm always interested to see the rebuild threads - great way to learn. Videos of tricky stuff would be great. My neighbor has an old 2100 that I'm trying to talk him into selling - it just sits there while he used his 372 - I'd like to give that rebuild a shot! Cheers!
I always appreciate a good build thread. I'm not sure why anyone would object to quality content contributed to the site.
