Dropped the saw off for a tweaking so I have a day or two to split. Yesterday's load was still in the truck so I started to unload, split, and stack...

Roll the rounds off the truck and on to the splitting stump. Then pick up the splits and stack.

Nice that you can back up right to the splitting station!

Got your gym workout equipment stacked close to the stacking location.
    Relaxing times !
    Brings back memories :)

Nice tough stump splitting base , at a slight angle !

That an 8 lb maul ?

Exactly what bogydave said. The round in the pic about to come down the ramp is a monster and then I see a splitting maul and no hydraulic splitter. Your a brave man KaptJaq .

That stump was cut off a tree that toppled in a tornado about 10 years ago. Small twister but it made a path between a couple of houses and only broke a few windows. You can still see the path today, no trees. My wood area is on the side of a hill and the angles on the stump almost match the slope. The round on the stump is almost perfectly vertical. There is enough of a slope on the stump to compensate for my crooked bucking...

Yes, 8 pound maul. The rounds were a little big. I also had some wedges and a 6 pound sledge.

That's why I have the ramp out. If they were little 20" rounds I would have carried them off the truck...

There were six from the trunk like that one and a few smaller rounds from a large branch in this load.

When I can't split with a maul anymore I'll get hydraulics and a gym membership...

About how many splits do you get out of a monster like that?

Don't know, can't count that high and I run out of fingers & toes...:)

I split from 3" to about 6" splits so it varies but probably between 15 & 20.
