I decided to light up some brush today and get the lawn all cleaned up before I mow. There were a few piles of brush in my back yard from some red maple and spruce that I took out last year, to open up the back yard a little. I got the perfect brush fire going - anything I threw on there was gone in under 20 minutes. And thanks to all that dry wood, there was virtually no smoke, unlike the brush fires my neighbors have been having lately! My entire day became about feeding this thing - had to add more about every 20 minutes or so. But I got all those brush piles burned up, cleaned up the yard, trimmed a couple trees... Caught the stump on fire... I think I might have caught the root ball on fire underground! I dumped a 5 gallon bucket on it, but it didn't take very long before it was burning again - just a little smokier. So I fired up the 460 and made some "fire" wood... I just let the rest of it cook. It made for a great campfire tonight. Had my sister, brother in law, and a couple of the kids over and we cooked some hotdogs.
Here's what's left this morning - this fire consumed all the brush from this tree, my yard, and half of the stump - maybe even some of the roots too! One of the brush piles was right at the entrance to one of my trails - didn't realize that when I left it there. All gone - even cleaned up the edge of the woods a bit too.
Now that's playing with fire! Sawing a burning stump with a chainsaw? It's a good thing that saw isn't running really rich
