I have to stack 7-8 cords of wood I just split from the log load, but I'm running out of room. I'm trying to think outside of the box. Not sure about holtzhausen. Was thinking about stacking along driveway, like a fence almost, but not sure how snow blowing would work-perhaps if not stacked too high? How high is too high though so the snowblower can clear it? My experience with stacking real high is that they tend to fall down-probably would translate to my holtzhausen.
Well you can fit more into a cube, but I'm really happy with my holz. It's 10' diameter, and there's a bit over 3 cords in there.
I think it will finish out around 10' once I finish the "cap". I wouldn't want to go much higher - there's a lot of ladder work at this point.
I love the look of holzhausens......wish I have more property, I'd build a couple of them. Maybe try to get some elves to move in and stack wood for me as rent....lol
All kidding aside, I'm starting to use my driveway to pile rounds for splitting. We have 2 driveways which makes it much easier. A lot of members here use the cinder blocks and posts. If you have a long driveway that could be a ton of wood even only 3 feet high.. This stuff will never be here long but I plan on lining the length of it with rounds ready for splitting when I move this coming winters wood up to the house..
I like that way, on pallets, wood gets good air circulation. Can run a double row with some space between.
I was looking at my driveway, and the 'shoulder' isn't too wide and it slopes. I'll take another look at it. I'd like to stack where a wheelbarrow isn't involved.
Yeah just make sure it's convenient for you. My driveway slopes and I never think about it unless it's icy. That's when I'm happy I don't have any wood stacked there.
I need that too, maybe a little smaller. I just need room for my boat, a sports car, tools, more motorcycles, and a few other things.
