Wildwest, can't really say I "like" that post, very sad. But interesting. I didn't realize West Nile killed. A lot of people in many areas have it subclinically.
Went back today for some more. Put the chain brake on, and when I tried to release, it didn't. Guess I gotta' mess with that now. Due for some rain, so I'll just unload what I have and be happy until the weather breaks again. I'll take a couple more pics when I go back out to unload the Jeep. SIL got her tractor back but now needs a battery.....I'm tempted to just buy one for her. Having her tractor/trailer available when I cut would be a huge help, as I've been relegated to hauling these rounds about 150' or so back to the Jeep.......one at a time. I could just drive the tractor back there. Hmmmm
Here are the rounds in the Jeep, and on the ground. Most rounds are only about 12", and a good inch or so is pretty punky but solid heartwood. Sixteen of 'em....it's all I could manage for the day.
Seen my first tick of the year 2 weeks ago.The last 2 years I only saw 4-5 crawling on me from late April to early November.Dont seem to be as many around here as in years past.Thankfully.Or maybe the stench of my sweat mixed with dirt & 2 cycle exhaust fumes just keeps them away more.
Yea, a battery is a Small cost to save your back & be a lot more efficient. Lowes & HD have them pretty cheap. ($40 to $60) May even jump it with your vehicle & it might run without a battery in it. I've had one last 3 years, pull it for winter & keep inside & charge it every 6 weeks for about an hour ±.
I got my tractor battery locally for $42. Works great. The one I had to put in the Jeep however, was a tad more money.
