I had the funniest dream the other night. Found 2 frying pans, and one kettle, they were all "Wagner"
Whats funny about that though? They made all those things… What am I missing WW?… I find them when least expected, maybe thats what will happen with you.
I don't think so… God only know's of some things I've dreamed of……. Remember, you can fight the sleep but not the dream
WeldrDave , I think you should start a CI Hoarders Club. Just a thought. Nah, never mind. It's easier to keep track of you right here.
I pick up one here one there etc... I don't even keep track of what I have ... The wife calls them a pain in the A$$ sometimes but she really likes them as well. It's the storage issue, but I got a plan for that in the fall. I'm going to build a nice ornamental iron rack for them. I keep the daily drivers in the oven, I have 4 that I use all the time, my go to pans Ironically, I have about as much "Revere ware" stainless pot's and pans with the copper bottoms. mostly old heavy stuff but so nice to use. I always cook my stews in the 8 or 10 qt ones.
I'd really like to put up a hanging rack for my most used pans, but finding a place isn't going to be easy. I'll be on a summer long mission this year to find some nice CI. They're usually available in garage sales, but infrequently.
Yup, Garage/yard sale's are the ticket . Here's what you need to do, Find a scrap/junk guy and tell him you'll pay for every one he gets, They will usually jump on it because all they care about is scrap price. I have a fella I see alot, theres a lot of chinese and tiawan crap out there but once in a while he hits an good one!
Garage sale find today. Lotsa crud, but otherwise in really good condition. Currently relaxing in a lye bath. Don't really use a smaller skillet much, but I don't have a 6. And it was only seven bucks.
I was shopping around on the web today and come across some American made cast iron cookware on Amazon. The brand name is Lodge. I am not familiar with this brand, but it looks like it has been around for a while. a 5 qt. Dutch oven is $36 and with prime, free shipping. On the Lodge web site, the same pot is $60. Any thoughts about this. I am hoping to have a new gas range soon. So I am looking for cookware that "I" like. A couple fry pans, a griddle and a dutch oven should set me up nicely.
As you said, Lodge has been around since the late 1880's. Their stuff is quality, "although" it's not the stuff of 50 years ago. "then again, what is" Still very good!
Here is a recipe for skillet bread. Has anyone tried this on one like it? http://www.yummly.com/recipe/Easy-N...ads you knead to try =?utf-8?Q?=F0=9F=8D=9E?=
Proof results of over heating! I had this Wagner for a while and she had a warp, twist and a hump at the bottom. Today I put this in our Pre-heat oven at work for cast and got it up to temp, took it out and slowly tried to press the bottom flat.. well, you see the out come… It exploded. The shiny spots in the broken cast tell me it had been "VERY" hot on an occasion or two. Oh well, I'm only down to one pan, I'm sure the wife will miss it!
