I found just a couple sections of this at the tree dump today. 90% sure it's Locust but the bark is a little different from what I just split.
Looks like locust to me too. If it was a yard bird it could be either a Skyline or a Sunburst locust. No matter though, as it is all wood right?
Honey Locust without question. No difference in the wood's density, burning qualities, strength, color, shaping qualities etc between the wild & domestic ones.
The city let's people dump brush and fallen trees at the public works site to get ground up into mulch or burnt.
and people get to scrounge through it as well? sounds like a great thing around here we have to take it to the transfer station and pay to get rid of it by the pound, they charge us a reduced "yard waste" fee to dispose of it. gets thrown down into a big pit and goes to a private company to compost and then sold back to us needless to say people do not take heavy rounds there, that all goes on C/L
My tree ID'ing skills seem to be off lately... But I think so! I gotta find out if there are any of those tree dumps around here! Score!
