Ok, here's the deal. In the first pic there is 2 leaners , both smaller size. Guess what the larger of the 2 is and I will ship the winner a free quart of maple syrup. It's obviously in the woods and not some exotic species that only Scotty would know. Backwoods , your in on this as well as I might have you stumped ! One guess per day , so make it count . I retired April 9th( yahooooo) and have been finishing cleaning up from maple season , 153 gallons made ! I was beat . Had a nice day today for cutting wood. Cold, a bit windy with snow flurries. Decided I would head to the woods and cut some. Sure is nice cutting down those dead ash that are like telephone poles with no branches left anymore. That big blow down is oak in the pic and it's on my hit list along with some hickory as well.
wishlist , congrats on the retirement. You will now be busier than ever. Oh, and the tree is Oak. The Fedex truck will be landing a nice jug of syrup at MY house, Mr. schlot....thank you very much. Wait, Mitch might be onto something.......now I gotta' put on my thinking cap.
I would say that is a pole tree in which case you need a polesaw to cut it with. I am going to town now to get some pancake mix. Will Fed-Ex have that delivered by morning? Gary
wishlist, congrats on retirement. I'm going on 4 years retired and I wish I had done it earlier. I'm going with a 10" ash.
Click on the picture to enlarge it and you see 2 small leaners to the right, that is what I presume he is talking about. Gary
I'm not entirely sure which trees. I'm gonna say the uprooted one is Red Oak at 18" DBH The one you're cutting and loading, White Ash at 16" DBH. OK with this new information; The larger of the 2 that are hung up, Beech at 16" DBH.
Man, this is going to be an easy contest to win...all I have to do is guess! If it was me giving away any of the maple flavored gold, I would have said "guess correctly" before I handed out the sweet stuff! Congrats on retirement!
Welcome back in case I didn't say it already! Good to see ya.. Glad to hear you are retired! Enjoy that and congrats!
