It can mean that, but not in this case. The hopper had plenty of fuel and was not bridged. In this case the "incomplete combustion" is due to these spruce pointes I got. The 6 blink code is confirmation they have high M/C, it happens every time I get a batch of pellets like this, particularly when running at a low burn. In a prior life I would have spent the next 3 months pulling my hair out and troubleshooting every aspect of my stove trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Fortunately those days are long gone by and I can now quickly ID a bad batch of pellets when I get one. Extremely poor heat output, slow/difficult lighting, 6 blink code = crap pellets with high M/C every time...

Can you turn it up to burn through it and be done with it?

Yes, fortunately I only have one bag left. I will have to run it on a high setting (and still get crap heat output) until they are gone. I could also use them in the pets litter boxes or to clean up spills in the driveway too. Honestly, much less frustrating using them for those things.

yes, a 6 blink could mean what you're saying, but not always. I don't sell the Spruce Pointe's, so cant comment on their quality or lack thereof. A 6 blink most often means the units dirty, can also mean bridging, fuel outage. I don't mean to correct anyone, but folks do read these forums, and if not mentioned, everyone who gets the 6 blink will think its the pellets, when in fact, it usually isn't.

6 blinks incomplete combustion (esp could not get to temperature or be maintained at temperature for a 20 minute period), there are many possible causes.

For those with less flashy stoves it is also somewhat like a blinking number three LED. :p:heidi::p !

I may or may not have gotten a blinking number 3 when running on low with slow feeding pellets.:heidi:

Nice day today. It got up to the low 70s.

Spent a bit of time cleaning up the yard and making an old shed disappear. Now it's Jim Beam, Coke and fire time. :)

You got that right, over the years I have bought more than my fair share of chit pellets.

Yes, I agree with both you and Smokey! I didn't mean to insinuate that bad pellets are the only cause of the 6 blink code. In fact, they are probably the least frequent cause, especially for knuckleheads like me that forget to top off the hopper before bed! Over the years, I have had 3 separate "bad batches" of pellets I can recall that repeatedly caused the 6 blink code. The first time it was NEWPs out of the Schuyler, NY facility, and I literally did troubleshooting of my stove for the better part of a full ton of pellets before realizing it was the pellets themselves. The next time it happened was a few years later, and again I spent far too much time troubleshooting everything under the sun before realizing once again that it was the pellets. Now that I've been bitten twice, it remains in memory and is one of the first things I suspect when it happens (after ruling out the obvious of course). The good news is, it's simple to troubleshoot now - just throw in a different brand, from a known good entity in your stash. and watch the problem magically disappear!

Yes. While they are not dripping wet, they definitely have high moisture content.
