Year old super dry corn for $3 a bushel last fall. Hauled it home in a gravity box cleaned it with a fan as it came out of the wagon and stored it in 55 gallon barrels. A little more work than pellets but saved a few dollars.
I mix about 20 % pellets with it so the clinker doesn't get so hard and is easier to light.

St Croix scf 050 consumes most of the corn Also have a Quadra Fire Santa Fe in the living room that we burn mostly pellets in and about 20% corn, The Quad doesn't like corn as well as the St Croix.
I found this site looking for reviews on the Fahrenheit Endurance Would like to replace the St Croix as it's starting to show it's age and wouldn't mind having something with auto ignition. We have been very happy with the St Croix and it has done a fantastic job heating my 1400 sq ft home.
We put in dedicated ducting just for the pellet furnace tried tying it to the existing ducting but it really didn't work as well.
BTW thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, Nice friendly place to visit.

With what I learned here the Fahrenheit we were looking at was an older model with manual ignition etc. So waiting is best for now, Time is on my side it would be nice to update this summer but the old furnace will likely last another year or so.

The Fahrenheit is a great unit and we have 6 or 7 members that have one (myself included).

From what I have read, almost every manufacturer is getting out of the Furnace (forced air) sales. Harman, US Stove, etc. Fahrenheit is the only one (and one unit from SBI) that I do believe is in it for the long haul.

Be patient and keep your ear to the ground and you'll find a good unit. My BIL just bought one last season from a dealer. The demo unit was $2,000 and they had one new/unused unit they sold to another family for $3,000.

I paid $2,000 for mine (used one season by previous owner) and I have had it for 4 years now. I love it. My house is just over 2,000 sq and it does a great job.

    What's the SBI furnace?

There's also the traeger/pinnacle GBU 070. Just wish that one was automatic.

    Yep..

The Alterna. The ONLY Pellet furnace that is approved to be a Primary Heating furnace.

It had electric back up heat (when you run out of pellets) and also has a Condenser add on, so you have Air Conditioning as well.

If the Fahrenheit bites the big one and I can't find one locally? The Alterna would be my next choice. Big money to have it set up right, but it's a unit that will last a long, long time.
