You need to figure in the labor involved with the swap and matching up the tip to the bar rails. Labor isn't free. I was quoted over $40 for the tip and labor to fit it. I can get a brand new E bar for <$50. Didn't make much sense to me.

In my case, the tip had a lot of movement vertically on the bar. It wasn't just that the tip was spread and sprocket was shot. I remember the dealer saying the new one wouldn't end up being nearly as tight as a new bar. Maybe that's the difference here.

Who knows, maybe it is that easy and the dealer was wrong about the fitment. I'd definitely give it a go myself next time just to see. I might even tell you that you were right all along :p. Deal?

In the end, it's just marketing/regulatory. As above E bars are marked green and ES/light's are marked yellow. Both will kill/maim you if used wrong. Be careful.

Maybe it's a recent change, but not all E bars are green labeled.

I was thinking it has to be sugi or tsumura. Thanks for the info. I will keep slinging the extra pound and save the extra cash. They do look cool though.

This 25" Sugi was returned for whatever reason, dealer was going to put it on Ebay...
He took my offer of $100 with a fresh loop. I'm just a firewood hack but it does look
good on my ol' ported 038av. I like the Stihl bars but they tend to scuff up fast.

Awesome, thanks! That extra pound just might make my 362 balanced with a 25" on it. My current 25" ES makes it just a bit bar heavy.....

You've got it backwards, man. An MS461 would balance your 25" ES bar perfectly:cool:

So, where do I buy a "Tsumura Light Bar"? A quick search on the pornweb doesn't come up with many places to buy them???

"thechainsawguy" on arboristsite is the only retailer in North America at the moment. He also sells on eBay, just search for "tsumura".

I'm not sure. Word is there will be US dealers carrying these next year.
