Ok, this may a little weird, but I love that guy. Am I having second thoughts about comments made in the heat of the moment. WTH? My step-dad was a Detroit cop for 2.5 decades. He worked through the riots and got trapped for a couple nights. He told my older brother that if anybody tried to break into the house, shoot 'em, then drag 'em in. Then, call the cops. Perpetrators are not victims.
Even the current Police Chief in Detroit has gone on record several times recently saying that citizens should protect them selves and their property, and that anyone walking around Detroit unarmed is looking to be a potential victim...........................
My problem with this is that it makes the average person seem like they're asking to be mugged or car-jacked. It's a similar argument that guys try to use after they've raped someone...."she was asking for it". Too bad I agree with the idea to be armed while in certain areas of Detroit (as well as plenty of other places), but I'm a realist. Lock up or kill all the bad guy jackwagons running around today or tomorrow, and there will be another generation in a few years. My wife calls me a negative person at times, but I've seen too much underbelly that she hasn't. So, we disagree on that.

When you have the Chief Law Enforcement Officers of major cities telling you to start protecting yourself and family, you might want to start paying attention. That tells me that the situation causing this is getting out of control.

Unfortunately, the cops are reactionary. Nature of the biz, for the most part. The bad guys are all nut jobs anymore, and they just don't give a rat's patootie about much of anything. That make things very dangerous.
Yup, police are forced to be reactionary in a very conservative way by all of the lawyers and social workers who think they can rehabilitate these clowns, and the amounts of vermin increases 10 fold over the protection resources.........................

The words and actions of most law enforcement agencies are nowadays controlled by the local media. It's refreshing to see a sheriff with some gonads for a change.
