Sunday afternoon temps here were in the upper 60's with very strong gusts.About a half block north & east of me straightline winds took the top outta this quite large Blue Spruce in the front yard. Property owner was walking his 2 dogs Monday afternoon,heard my saw roughing out that huge Honey Locust & stopped in backyard as I was taking a break.He remembered me from last June after I took 2 loads after another storm blew over the other part of that twin tree."Its yours if you want it",I said I'd call him in a couple days when I was caught up with other stuff. "I always wondered where that noise was coming from,I see you have quite a stockpile.I'm impressed."David said he'd think of me first when having wood to get rid of and/or any tree work needing done. Thanked me several times,was glad to get rid of the stuff I originally thought the tree was a White Pine,but further inspection of the needles changed my mind. About 1/2 of this is going to sister for her firepit,mainly the smaller stuff after its cut/split to final size.Dries like Silver Maple,a little less density than White Pine with less sap also.Biggest rounds up to 14"-16" are in the front of truck bed.
I love those for christmas trees, because the hard needles don't fall off as easily if I neglect to water it or take it down before mid-February... They sure are pointy though - bet that was a lot of fun to limb! Good work, and congrats on the new connection!
Does it smell a little sweet like pine when it's cut? And good connection hopefully mother nature will knock over a few more for yah.
