image.jpg I have a small stihl rotor tiller that converts into a power broom. I mostly use it for spring clean-up in the power broom mode. I can't get it running properly this spring. I have it to the point where it idles fine, but stumbles and stalls when rev'd. I've had the carb apart and cleaned everything to get it to this state of running. My question; I can't get the high speed screw out of the housing to clean that jet, which I think is the problem. It only turns about one revolution. In the attached picture the idle jet is on the right, the high speed idle is on the left. The LA adjustment is the very bottom screw.

    Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. What's involved with removing the limiter cap? The idle screw can be completely removed with what seems to be the exact same cap.

The caps look the same, but they aren't. The caps on the L and LA screws are pretty much just guides for a screwdriver, whereas the one on the H screw also has a tab that catches on a boss on the carburetor stopping you from adjusting it very far. Those caps can be tough to remove - I've always found it to be MUCH easier if you have the carb off of the machine. It has two clips that snap it onto the screw and holds by means of a groove around the circumference of the screw. I use a sharp pick/scribe to pry the clips until they break off and then you can remove the cap. Personally, I've never tried to remove them in a manner that will let you re-install the cap so it will stay put back and be re-used, so keep that in mind.

Is that a "4-Mix" Stihl engine? If so, you might want to look into adjusting the valves if it turns out the carb isn't your issue.
