with some deer, the pileated woodpecker pics are blurry...sorry about that.

I think the deer look pretty good, tomorrow I'll drop more smaller maples for them to eat.

They're always around our property by the house, lots of nice cover for the winter.

This year I've been dropping smaller Maples for food so once they here the chainsaw they come running.

No ice storm this year and all the snow was sugar snow, they've been able to get down through the snow for food all winter.

My wife had just come out back, I was telling her that when the snow melts I would cut that dead pine down, that's when the Pileated Woodpecker showed up.

    Great pictures!

Yeah, I think those deer are doing very well. I noticed deer were eating some of the tops of the couple live trees I dropped earlier this winter as well.

Looks like the young one in pic 7929 might have a little "fuzzy face" going on. Signs of a bit of stress, I've been told. You can also tell the fat reserves are lower on a deer by looking at the part right over the top of the rear legs..it drops down from the line of the back somewhat instead of being flat all the way across the top of the back to the rear. To be expected at this time of year.
Those big woodpeckers sure do a number on the trees too!
