Bathroom remodel and closet addition

Hey guys, this week was a bathroom remodel and since it takes so long waiting for the tiles and thin-set to set up. Decided to add a closet to up stairs bedroom. Because of the design of house i decided to add 40 feet of closet that will cause to loose no floor space... bonus and anyone knows my daughter NEEDS more closet space. Of course I forgot to take before but here are some during

The floor above is dotting a full wall close and then a linen closet at top of the stairs the ceiling here is called lode pole pine they are tongue and groove 2x6 wife will stain to match the sun darkened bit she does all painting and staining except for above 12 feet she afraid of heights

 

OK taking a break having trouble with tile saw and freezing weather arrgh

 

The kitchen is vaulted ceiling where beams are 8 foot to 16 the lodge pole pine , tongue and groove ceiling/subfloor, is over dining room so I brought ceiling over to bath wall to add a 2 foot deep 15 foot long closet in bed room above dining room and a small linen closet at top of stairs so only losing vaulted ceiling going up. closet will be short 5 and half feet at tallest but short closets are better than no closets! this is outside top window is bedroom getting closet left window on trellis is dining room right window is foyer and kitchen area. am hoping most people will never notice. gaining 32 square feet closet for no loss of floor space. my wife will be happy. she does not complain doing tile and construction at same time I'm a little impatient waiting for stuff to dry... she is still hoping for kitchen upgrade. house was designed by a single man a doctor so 10 x 10 kitchen and very few closets.. but location is perfect 20 minutes to biggest town in state but very country quarter mile drive and great schools

 

Well tile is all laid and sink is back in waiting for tile to set before grouting tiles under sink but not grouting that area. so while waiting will probably frame closet out.

thanks guys having a jack n coke and Goin to bed any suggestions to sun darken pine ceiling to match all beans are untreated wood darkened by sunlight amazing how much pine ceiling darkened...

 

Well bathroom if finished, except the silicone ring around bottom of toilet, which I won't do.. Wife will soo she can keep complaining I never finish anything, its one of our standing jokes.. bathroom sink was done before Christmas when she dropped candle in it and broke sink so I had started that but wanted to wait for wait on floor til after holidays to loose toilet for a few days while i did floor. not sure how my parents managed 7 kids daycare, foster kids with 1 full and 1 half bath. we have 2 full and a half in laundry room and I still need to wait to find 1 open but i learned something NO more tile jobs in below freezing weather! Wet saw in basement cause it freezes out side too messy so since rules are no pic it's not true here's a pic . still workin on closet pics coming later

 

I'll ask her, but I doubt she'll have any ideas other that buy some stain and try it in an inconspicuous area.
Wood eventually darkens when exposed to the air. I'm not sure the sun has anything to do with it. It may darken to match over time.

 

thanks wild west, my wife says you are sweet, I think she's right. today got closet framed up after work. Wife is thinking she want to change doors up there to a barn styles or pocket door. a great idea! this is gonna be a slower project because hot water heaters have to be re routed which will not happen until may as I have to shut that zone off to do so. then wife keeps changing plan which is good because I work slow and I want to make what she wants. but she already said we should do same thing on other side of bath that was remodeled pics above, in bedroom. I said why that's the office it does not need a closet. this proves I am a man which means I have a birth defects I am missing that y chromosome or I have not been married long enough maybe both! but here's pic first is over foyer second is additionally framed for linen closet at top of stairs

 

I need to retract this statement. I misremembered the example I was thinking about. Sun and maybe moisture has something to do with it.
The wife didn't have any good ideas other than possibly staining.

 

OK got closet stripped and re running wires.. no pic tonite. I hate sheet rock! especially over kitchen. so I took everything off counters and put in stove cause that will stay clean you guessed it I went to store so some screw bits wife started dinner in get back to an irate 10 year old why would you put stuff in stove! of course it snowed all day windows are open house is cold stove is smoking plastic from bread wrapper on element. I hate mondays!

 

Yeah GF leaves frying pans in the stove all the time
she also lined the new stove with aluminum foil (has heating elements underneath) and coated the bottom of our new kitchen stove within 2 days of remodel completeion

 

Well I told you I was slow! I finally got the closets finished except for doors. Life happened in between, septic went bad a month after I started! That's A priority! Then had a sliding glass door go bad.. Then the whole no power and house fire ordeal.. But I finished the closets with exception of barn doors while waiting on insurance company. A few pics!
pic is girls closet 16 feet long with 2 doors framed in for 32" barn sliding doors later.

 

This pic is wife's linen closet, all have hard wood floors and are cedar 1 by 4 for walls. I went to a rough cut mill and bought 325 square feet of cedar and then planed and routed to fit. Saved $350 from buying less quality from BBS.

This will have door also. But that can wait til winter. I had pics of the floors and cedar going in but that device died.. Hey it only took a little over 3 years. Bathroom was done in 3 days.. Every time I went to work on it. Told my daughter to clean her room. That took her forever. Actually this one had to be finished to fix some of fire damage.
