haha, BLACK WALNUT!!! I had about an acre or more of mostly walnut, and thinned 'em out good, leaving the biggest and straightest ones to carry on, they're nice size trees, another 25 to 50 years and they'll be awesome!
most of these are walnut.....except there's a sycamore in there on the left, and a cherry on the right.....not counting all the cedar trees, plus the stack of splits on the right there is all walnut, and most of the stack to the rear there is walnut, plus I have other walnut trees about the property....there's some ash, locust, elm, and cherry in there too, that stack left of the walnut stack is all locust (in the middle there) and to the left of that is elm/cherry (I've been burnin' off that stack, that's why it's lower)
Since they R calling for a -19 realfeel tonight, I have the pellet and the wood stove going, the wood stove is loaded with 10 rounds of Ironwood.
Sounds like a feel cold morning too. Gusts to 40 and real feel of -25 in the early AM supposedly. We'll see. Sugar maple continues to keep us toasty.
It is 2º on the back porch right now. Standing dead Pine and some Ash burning in the boiler. Boy, am I ever glad spring is here.

It's 35f here. And doing that darn four letter s word outside. Imagine my joy. Sawmill slats in the princess. It was SIXTY NINE degrees over by the bedroom door! The horror! I immediately got ol' princess going as soon as I got home so that the house would be warm when "she who thinks she must be obeyed" wakes up. LOL. She does like it warm.
8 out 63 in Mama got out of bed and shivered. I said turn up the pro-pain ! Although half our snow is gone and temps are up , I wish it would get to the 40's or 50's for a week and get rid of this ice we have every where. I'm tired of walking around like a Pomeranian chitting crushed limestone !
8 out 69 in sugar maple bed with apple uglies on top but aren't all apple uglies will it warm up to plant roses by mother's day? if not better by weekend I am putting back up stove in basement bringing Temps to 90 pulling out kiddie pool filling it, laying pool sand and turn in on beach boys and Jimmy buffet music. some blenders and having a beach party. maybe I need some sleep
3/24/15 It's been unusually warm here all winter. Very little snow. Temperatures have been in the 60s the last couple of weeks. Its cool in the mornings, so I usually fire up the stove for a while to warm things up in the shop. Burning a 50/50 mix of Poplar and Lodgepole pine. Looking forward to hoarding some wood this summer.
